Custom RV and Camper Mattresses

The Complete Guide To Custom RV and Camper Mattresses

[RV Mattress]

People come to us all the time looking for replacement camper mattresses. We're happy to tell them that we can make them a custom and comfortable solution to suit their recreational vehicle.

When we say RV, different recreational vehicles come to mind. Some people think of large Class-A motorhomes, while others imagine a modest fifth-wheel trailer or pop-up camper. We can make you the perfect mattress to fit your vehicle, whether it's old or new, name-brand or custom-built.

Today, travelers are using a variety of vehicles to build custom campers. Sprinter vans and even school buses are being customized to create low-budget alternatives to campers and RV's. These custom projects are all about making the most of the small space available. Let us help you complete your custom rig with a mattress that achieves space and comfort requirements.

We don't just consider your RV; we want to know your sleeping needs. Do you deal with high or low body temperature, or maybe your partner radiates body heat during the night? Do you struggle with daily back or neck pain? Do you have allergic reactions to certain materials? Regardless of your unique situation, we'll deliver a product suited for your ideal sleep needs. For example, suppose you need breathability on those hot summer nights, thermal insulation for the winter, or memory foam to reduce body aches and pains. In that case, our Bozeman store will build you the perfect custom solution. When you're sleeping on one of our custom RV mattresses, we want you to be just as comfortable as you are at home (if not more so!).

WHAT KIND OF MATTRESS DO YOU NEED?

[RV Mattress]

Not sure about what type to get? We have different models to choose from depending on your needs.

Pocketed Coil

A pocketed coil mattress is based on the traditional innerspring but has springs separated within its fabric pocket.

This makes each pocket much more independent for your body shape, allowing sleeper to experience better body contouring and less movement when a partner gets up or switches sleeping positions.

We craft each pocketed coil product at our Bozeman factory.

Our products offer long-term durability and absorb body heat to provide an excellent temperature-neutral sleeping experience. On top of that, pocketed coils decrease motion transference so that the movement of a sleeping partner doesn't transfer to you.

Full Size/Bunk

The materials that make up your custom RV mattress are essential, but so is the location you'll be putting it. Some RV bed platforms are easy to measure. In contrast, others (such as stow-away bunks) are more difficult because of the clearance necessary to get them back into hiding. Slide-out beds in RVs and campers often cannot accommodate mattresses thicker than 6 inches. We know what works and what doesn't when it comes to clearance and RV bed frames.

Short Queen

Chances are your Camper Van or Trailer doesn't fit your standard queen size mattress. This is because bed platforms in RVs and campers are often 5 inches shorter than the space needed for a full queen mattress. We can manufacture a custom RV queen mattress for these tight spaces that meet or exceed the comfort level of your home bed.

RV King

Like RV queen sized mattresses, there is also a king size specific to RV's and campers. An RV King is more narrow than a standard sized King. Regardless, measuring the base your mattress sits on will help us understand what specific size you need.

MEASURE TWICE, ORDER ONCE

If you need to go beyond standardized sizes to create a custom solution, accurate measurements will be essential. Measuring the bed's base is a very tedious process with little room for error. You'll want to make sure you are using the correct tools to get the correct measurements. Using a tape measure and a carpenter square is highly recommended.

It's important to mention that length and width aren't the only factors to consider. The thickness of your bed is necessary to know to make sure you don't interfere with slanted walls, doors, and cabinets.

Follow our measurement instructions for more information.

If you're not confident in your measuring capabilities, we can help. Our experts would be happy to take the measurements and advise you on having the most comfortable night of sleep possible in your RV.

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING AN RV OR CAMPER MATTRESS

When you start waking up after a rough night of sleep with back/neck pain, you will know that it's time to replace your current camper mattress. When you begin to shop around, it's important to consider comfort, durability, size, and weight. We can work with you to design a product that gives you the best sleep possible while on the road.

Take a look at some common problems that occur and have people coming to us for a custom solution:

Firmness: Mattress firmness and density is tricky to get right. If your camper has a firm mattress, you may consider adding our Pillowtop accessory to add an extra layer of plush cushioning. If a mattress topper or added bedding doesn't resolve your issue, it may be time for a new custom solution.

Softness: Yes, a mattress can be too soft. If there isn't a good balance between soft and firm, issues can occur. The ideal solution is medium firmness, right in between firm and soft. Unfortunately, adjusting support is not an easy fix. Adding a firm foam layer on top could add an element of density, but investing in a replacement mattress would be a better choice long term.

Wrong Fit: Campers and RVs are all about maximizing space. If a mattress doesn't fit, it could interfere with doors, windows, drawers, or other components. Or maybe your bed is surrounded by slanted walls, creating an additional challenge. Don't let your mattress inconvenience you; seek a custom solution.

Too Thin: If your mattress is too thin, having a comfortable night of sleep will be difficult. Chances are, you will feel the wooden or metal platform underneath. If you have space, opt for a thicker mattress for more cushion and support. If space is limited, adding bedding should alleviate this issue.

Weight and Flexibility: Weight and flexibility are important factors to consider when searching for a new RV mattress. If you are are dealing with tight turns and corners to get the mattress into place, it will need to be flexible. Also weight is a factor that is often overlooked. A heavy rig can impact your driving experience and even your fuel economy, so it's important to look for lightweight solutions. For example, an innerspring mattress would be a lighter choice than a latex mattress. Rv mattresses are built to be light weight to help maintain efficiency while pulling or driving your rig.

Temperature Regulation: Finding a product that keeps you comfortable on hot summer nights or cold nights is critical. Whether you're a hot sleeper or a cold sleeper, finding a mattress with quality temperature regulation technology is also something to consider.

CUSTOM WITHOUT THE PRICE TAG

When you hear the word custom, you probably think that you will need to break the bank for your new camper mattress. This isn't entirely true and can depend on several factors, such as the size and type of mattress. We offer a variety of solutions to meet your specific budget.

If you only take your vehicle on the road a few times a year, it might be hard to invest in a custom replacement mattress. We understand this and offer products to help make your existing mattress the best it can be. Our products like foam padding and toppers can help improve your sleep.

If you travel year-round and know you will be using your camper or RV for many years, it might be worth investing in a custom product that will give you years of comfort and restless sleep. However, even if you decide to make the investment, there are ways to design a cost-effective product that still performs well and lasts.

The truth is, RV manufacturers want to get you back into the showroom to sell you a replacement mattress. But, unfortunately, they will just sell you the same standard product you had to begin with. So, ask yourself, would you rather buy a basic mattress every few years or a custom product that will give you many years of quality sleep? We see our products as an investment, and the custom option may actually save you in the long run.

We also offer financing plans with no money down and zero interest!

WHY CHOOSE MATTRESS MILL

Truly Custom: While there might be a mattress store on every corner, there aren't many places that will make you a custom solution that fits your personal preference.

When it comes time to get rid of that uncomfortable air mattress or replace your RV bunk bed or pull-out, we'll make you one custom that will fit just as well as, or even better than, the original.

Made in the USA: Where was your mattress made? If you're not sure, then you should probably be more careful next time you buy one! Our premium products are made in Bozeman, Montana, by our highly trained crew with top-tier quality control. We believe it's one reason that our products hold up so well.

High-Quality Materials: Another reason that our products are so durable is that we use such high-quality materials. No matter what part of the bed: high density memory foam, padding, quilting, springs, zippers - we use the best bedding materials available. If you need your mattress to be hypoallergenic with a medium-firmness, we've got you covered.

Variety: Too many custom mattress companies limit themselves and only make specific types and sizes. From a Twin to a California King and even RV King, we don't set size limits. We offer a variety of sizes and solutions to meet your needs.

Getting the right custom mattress for a camper might sound like a big deal at first, but we make it as easy as possible.
