Applauding Women’s Achievements at Rolta and the EWC of Pittsburgh

Let’s face it, technology, especially IT, is a male dominated industry.

Statistics show that jobs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) are still predominantly held by men. Rolta International and Rolta AdvizeX have recognized the value of their female employees for many years.  Two of Rolta’s strong female leaders are Preetha Pulusani and Pierrette Kelly.

Preetha Pulusani is the President of Rolta International (Americas). Preetha is responsible for all operations for the Americas with the goal of increasing business returns and growth from integrated synergies and differentiated solutions for key vertical segments in North America. She also currently serves as a member on the Rolta Board of Directors. In her previous position as Chief Strategy Officer of Rolta India Limited, Preetha focused on technology and go-to-market strategies that fueled the company’s growth. Preetha is also a member of several professional organizations and served as an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) from 2001 to 2006. She was recognized as the ITA (Alabama Information Technology Association) IT top Executive of the Year in 2006.

Pierrette Kelly currently serves on the Rolta AdvizeX Advisory Board. She has been a member since 2006. Pierrette has over 35 years of executive and management experience. Most recently, she served as Vice President and General Manager of CVS.com, and prior to that she spent 17 years with Digital Equipment Corporation. Pierrette has Bachelor’s Degree from Rhode Island College, and a Master’s Degree from American International College. She has also completed advanced graduate studies at Columbia University and the Aspen Institute.

At Rolta AdvizeX we not only support our own female workforce, we support and recognize all female professionals. We recently sponsored the Executive Women’s Council (EWC) of Pittsburgh’s 40th Anniversary event, which celebrates professional women and their accomplishments. The EWC has been promoting economic and political advancement of Pittsburgh’s executive and professional women since their inception in 1975. Today EWC is one of the most respected professional organizations in Pittsburgh. They work alongside other women’s organizations to achieve improved equity in pay, professional opportunities and board membership.

The 40th anniversary event featured speaker, Claire Shipman, a highly regarded journalist and co-author of The Confidence Code. Her book delves into the profound confidence gap that exists between men and women. The book describes how women’s lack of confidence impacts their leadership, overall success and fulfillment. Studies find that even “successful” women have more moments of self-doubt than their male counterparts. The book explores the psychological reasons why this inequality exists and how women can become more confident by taking action and courting risk.

We, at Rolta AdvizeX, congratulate the EWC on their 40th anniversary and are supporters of the great work they continue to do for the women on Pittsburgh. We also continue to applaud the efforts and accomplishments of both Preetha and Pierrette here at Rolta.
