Meet IT Demands Consistently with All Flash Storage

IT departments are widely overtaxed and under-staffed.

IT is constantly on the lookout for products that will simplify day to day operations. Ideally, they would like to spend less time planning, getting approvals, and basically locked in the perpetual sales cycle involved in purchasing new technology. IT workloads and needs are constantly growing and the need for products that enable their applications to perform consistently are in high demand. They also require the flexibility to meet these evolving demands. The pressure for low latency and quick response times is paramount—without it customers can be lost.

How can we help lighten some of this burden? All-flash data centers. We believe all flash will change your IT life. More specifically, all-flash data centers built with XtremIO 4.0. We think if you migrate some of your workloads to XtremIO, you are not going to remember how you lived without it before.

Were you one of the people who held out for a while before giving in and switching to a Smartphone? When you finally got one, do you think you would ever consider going back to a flip phone? Or perhaps you were an early adopter and bought the first Smartphone available. Would you be able to survive without access to e-mail, applications, news, and work all from your phone? All flash storage is pretty much the same deal; once you try it you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

In our opinion two of the best features of this new release are the availability of larger X-Bricks and the addition of data replication.

  • 40TB X-Bricks—The introduction of larger X-Bricks is a direct cost savings to the customer. Customers that would have previously purchased two X-Bricks for 40TB of storage now only have to buy one. They now have the ability to store more data on a single appliance which means more workloads and less CPU and memory. Transitioning workloads to one appliance is much faster than building a cluster of two or more X-Bricks. As we said before, once people go to all flash you will want to move more workloads to all flash storage. The scale of XtremIO has grown significantly with this new release.
  • Data Replication—Data replication was a missing piece from previous releases of XtremIO. Now native replication is offered and it easily integrates with EMC’s RecoverPoint. This eliminates the business challenge of have to use a 3rd party replication solution with XtremIO.

In the future 4.X releases we can look forward to the capability of mixing different sized X-Bricks in a cluster. As of now you can purchase one X-Brick, and then grow clusters of 2, 4, 6, and 8; in a future release we will see the ability to have 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 X-Bricks in a cluster. This allows customers to scale-out more incrementally and provides more flexibility especially for smaller companies.

All flash storage is also perfect as a foundation for your private cloud. No matter how you decide to use XtremIO, Rolta AdvizeX Managed Services can provide services to ease the transition.
