What an exciting time to be a VMware partner!
A fundamental transformation in data center networking is underway and VMware is leading the charge. According to Gartner, VMware is now the leading data center networking visionary, the first time a software company has achieved such a feat. In February, AdvizeX was named VMware’s Global Software Defined Data Center Partner of the Year.
In addition, AdvizeX has been selected as one of VMware’s first Elite –NSX partners. Elite-NSX allows us exclusive training, business unit access, and lab software in order to help support organizations who are seeking change to support business agility, improved security, and manageability with VMware NSX.
Initial conversations with our clients regarding NSX are proving there is growing interest in network virtualization, and clear positive business outcomes associated with VMware NSX. Along the way we’ve heard a few concerns about integrating NSX into an existing environment.
Some of the questions and concerns our clients have voiced include:
- How can I manage NSX using existing tools? (SNMP, config management, etc.)
- Will I lose visibility into my network by implementing a software SW overlay?
- I’ve been told that software will not scale as well as hardware. Should I be concerned about implementing a software-based networking solution and will it scale?
Over the next several months we will be sharing a series of blog posts that address these concerns and more. As we deploy our own NSX environment and work with our customers to test their environments, we will share our experiences with the integration and some of the interesting ways we are able to solve problems ranging from rapid deployment of resources to streamlining change control processes. The series will focus on the NSX-V (as opposed to the multi-hypervisor version, NSX-MH) as this is where we see the greatest demand.
As a VMware NSX Elite partner, we have successfully installed the NSX software in the AdvizeX Solution Center, and the experience was exceptionally simple and smooth for a product with such depth and functionality. The solution easily installed on top of a multi-vendor network environment with no configuration change required. A base installation seamlessly integrated into our current architecture providing a platform for demonstrating functionality going forward.
