Coffee Mug Tree

This is a project that I made for my husband, the coffee lover, for Valentine's day. I thought that having the coffee mugs close by the coffee pot would be great. However, I wanted something that would match and show my love for him while capturing his love for coffee. This is simple and fun!!!

What you need:

  • (1) can of Krylon spary paint, Chili Pepper
  • (1) can of Krylon Clear Sealer
  • Thrifted Coffee Mug Tree
  • White Vinyl Topper embellishment (Optional)

How and How Long:

  1. Clean any excess debris and dirt from the coffee mug tree.
  2. Using even strokes, spray your Krylon paint onto the mug tree. Make sure you cover all areas, even the under parts of the tree arms.
  3. Repeat three or four times for an even coat.
  4. Using either ABC/Letter stickers or cutting out vinyl with a Cricut or Silhouette machine, create a phrase you like. I chose: Love and coffee are best served HOT.
  5. Attach your letters to the base of the stand in a swirl. I used paper letters first to measure it out.
  6. Spray a coat of Krylon sealer/clear coat as this will be used in the kitchen. You don't want those letters coming off.
  7. Add the optional topper by drilling a hole and screwing it in, or gluing. Toppers will vary.
  8. 8. Display! Use! ENJOY!!!! For more detailed directions and photos visit: www.rocknregalia.blogspot.com/2011/02/valentines-gift-for-man.html
Approximate project time: 2 hours.

What it Costs:

Cost is $15 for used coffee tree, 1 small can of Krylon Chili Pepper, 1 can of sealer and the vinyl for lettering.
