Cardboard Snowflake

I had a few hours to play around, so I drew a design and built the snowflakes out of supplies I already had.

What you need:

  • Pencil/pen
  • Cuttin tool (Laser Engraver / Utility knife / scissors / razor blades / etc.)
  • Krylon Spraypaint in Gloss White (# 51501) or colors of your choice)
  • Cardboard sheets (0.108 inch)
  • Painter spray sheild (can be found at the local paint/hardware store)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • String
  • Sandpaper (220 grit or higher)

How and How Long:

  1. Design the shape of snowflake and sketch onto cardboard with pencil.
  2. With cutting tool of chice, cut the pattern out of cardboard.
  3. Using spray paint, apply two coats to cardboard cut out. Lay design on flat surface and cover surface with old newspaper or drop cloth before spray painting!
  4. Assemble snowflake (cut hole in top of snowflake and hang from ceiling with string).
Approximate project time: 30 minutes.

What it Costs:

Cost is $5 (one can of spray paint).
