Harvest Centerpiece

The harvest season is a great time to gather together at home. I have created a harvest centerpiece to bring the feel of fall indoors. I love metallic and this subtle copper centerpiece brings elegance to any room.

What you need:

  • Krylon Brushed Metallic - Sparkling Canyon (#51252)
  • Krylon General Purpose Metallic - Copper Metallic (#2203)
  • Krylon Short CutsΠBrush On Paints - Gold Leaf (#SCB001)
  • Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic - Crystal Clear Acrylic (#1303)
  • Urn
  • Assorted faux autumn fruits and vegetables
  • Assorted faux fall leaves
  • Floral foam
  • Hot glue
  • Straight pins
  • Newspaper or drop cloth
  • 1" Paint brush

Tips

Be creative and try using a variety of other items in your harvest like sunflowers or branches. To avoid unwanted hot glue threads or webbing, twirl the tip of gun to collect them like spaghetti on a fork.

How and How Long:

  1. In a well-ventilated area, set up a spray area by covering a table or other work surface with newspaper or a drop cloth.
  2. Fill the urn halfway with floral foam (or use wadded newspaper). Use glue to secure.
  3. Create the main harvest bouquet by hot gluing larger fruits and vegetables together in a visually pleasing pyramid or mound.
  4. Using straight pins or glue, attach smaller fruits and faux fall leaves here and there, filling gaps and accenting the display.
  5. Spray entire centerpiece with Oil Rubbed Bronze and let dry. Add a second coat if needed.
  6. Using Copper, spray the piece from above, only spraying the top portions of the centerpiece. Let dry.
  7. Using a paintbrush and Gold Leaf paint, create highlights by brushing in one direction across raised areas on the fruits, vegetables and leaves. Let dry.
  8. Finish by spraying entire centerpiece with Crystal Clear Acrylic. Let Dry Completely.
Approximate project time: 2 hours.

What it Costs:

Approximate cost is $25.
