Halloween Morbid Menu

For a Halloween dinner party, I created a morbid menu board and another round chalk piece from old dollar store serving platters. This was a fun, easy way to add some unique, hand-drawn touches to a party.

What you need:

  • (1) can Krylon Chalkboard spray paint
  • Old serving platters
  • Chalk OR Expo Bright Sticks
  • Wet Erase marker Masking tape
  • Washi tape for trim (optional)

How and How Long:

  1. Use masking tape to hide any areas that you don't want painted.
  2. Spray three thin, even coats of chalkboard paint, allowing the paint to dry between each coat.
  3. Wait until paint is completely hardened before writing on surface.
  4. Remove tape from edges.
  5. "Ghost" the chalkboard with a side of chalk. Wipe off excess.
  6. Write your spooky menu using wet chalk or an Expo Bright Sticks Wet Erase marker for more precision.

Approximate project time: 1 hour.

What it Costs:

Cost is $15 for spray paint and supplies.
