Night Stand

I bought these night stands at the local thrift store and transformed them using Bauhaus Gold. You can find the transformation in greater detail at www.allthingsthrifty.com.

What you need:

  • (1) can of Krylon Primer
  • (2) cans of Krylon Bauhaus Gold Glaze
  • Paint brush
  • Wet cloth
  • 220 grit sand paper
  • Screwdriver

How and How Long:

  1. Prime the furniture and let it dry completely.
  2. Use the 220 grit sandpaper to lightly sand the primer to take away any gritty texture.
  3. Paint the furniture with Krylon Bauhaus Gold. Repeat for two-three coats to achieve full coverage. Let dry completely.
  4. Brush on black glazing medium.
  5. Wipe off excess glaze leaving the glaze only in the nooks and crannies of the furniture.
  6. Let dry completely.
  7. Remove hardware and spray them with desirable color.
  8. Replace hardware.
  9. You are done!!
Approximate project time: 2 hours.

What it Costs:

Cost is about $50 for the following: 2 cans spray primer ($8.00); 2 cans Bauhaus Gold spray paint (approx $7.00); 1 small amount of black glazing medium ($7.00); and Furniture ($20.00 from a thrift store).
