How and How Long:
- Carefully remove glass from table and set aside.
- Clean table and dry thoroughly. Apply wood filler if needed to any scratches or dents. Make any other needed repairs to table. Sand table with fine and very fine sandpapers. Remove all dust with tack cloth.
- Protect surrounding area with newspapers. Spray table with Gray Primer. Let dry completely.
- Spray table with several coats of Original Chrome paint. Let dry completely.
- Spray table with Crystal Clear for enhanced durability. Let dry completely.
- Create a design for the glass top (like the diamond pattern in the photo). Clean glass on both sides and dry with a lint free cloth. You will be painting both sides of the glass. Looking Glass will be used on the reverse-side of the glass (the side that faces down), and Frosted Glass Finish will be used on the top of the glass (the side that faces up).
- Use painter's tape to mask areas on the bottom side of the glass that are not to be sprayed with Looking Glass. Looking Glass is always sprayed on the reverse side of the glass surface. The side you spray will appear dull silver and when you turn it over, the finish appears mirror-like.
- Spray bottom side of glass with Looking Glass paint. Let dry to touch. Very carefully remove tape. Let dry overnight.
- Use painter's tape to mask areas on the top side of the glass that are not to be sprayed with Frosted Glass Finish (mask off any areas you want to see the mirror finish -- handle with care so you don't scratch the paint on the bottom side of the glass).
- Spray top side of glass with Frosted Glass Finish. Let dry to touch. Very carefully remove tape. Let dry overnight.
- Reinstall glass in table.
- Using glue gun, glue trim around table with ½ inch overlap.
Approximate project time: 3 hours.
