Scroll Belt

A plain black belt gets a little glitz quickly and easily with metallic spray paint.

What you need:

  • Krylon Brushed Metallic - Nickel (#51255)
  • Krylon Easy-Tack(TM) Repositionable Adhesive - Clear (#7020)
  • Fleur De Lis stencil set (Delta Creative)
  • Plain black leather belt
  • Plain scrap paper (with no printing or color on it -- white copy paper works great)
  • Painter's tape

Tips

Do not use printed newspaper or dyed paper as a masking material, as the colors may transfer onto project when painting. It is critical to allow the paint the dry completely between paint and stencil applications, or the design may smear when the stencil is applied and removed. Clean up small areas by spraying some paint into a puddle on plastic wrap or a can lid, then dip into it with a small paintbrush and apply to the design where needed.

How and How Long:

  1. Spray back of stencil with Easy Tack.
  2. Starting at the outside tip end, press long border area of stencil firmly to belt, making sure it stays consistently down the center. Mask off areas you do not want painted with paper and painter's tape.
  3. Spray over stencil with Satin Nickel paint, then carefully remove and let dry.
  4. Repeat Steps 2-3 until entire belt has been painted.
Approximate project time: 1 hour.

What it Costs:

Approximate cost is $10.
