Tips

What is great about a movie night is that you can do it any time of year in any style! You can create a theme movie night and watch the classics; or watch horror films back to back and cast your vote for who's going to be offed; or just focus on films with your favorite leading star! For Oscar night it would be great to enlist a friend to be the butler and serve popcorn, candy and cocktails. Make sure the "butler" wears a black vest and tie to set a more formal Hollywood glamour tone for the night.

How and How Long:

  1. Scatter newspaper to cover work surface. Place craft box and lid on separate pieces of newspaper on top of covered area. Use these individual pieces to help rotate the craft box and lid while spraying. This is especially useful if you are unable to get around your work surface.
  2. Spray inside and outside of cardboard box and lid with Paper Finishes Make It Acid-Free!®
  3. Spray interiors and exteriors of both craft box and lid with Short Cuts Paint in Chrome.
  4. Set aside lid and let dry.
  5. Expose an unused roll of film by pulling the film out of it's canister. Bend film around top edge of star shaped craft box and crease film around corners.
  6. Remove film strip from craft box. Expand onto work surface and spray one side with Easy Tack Repositionable Adhesive. Re-wrap film strip around top edge of star-shaped box leaving about 1/2 inch exposed at the top. Press down firmly.
  7. Place star-shaped box upside-down on work surface and spray exterior with Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint in Flat Black. When spraying near the filmstrip, try to spray from a perpendicular direction so as to reduce underspray. Let dry.
  8. Carefully remove film strip. Clean up using a Krylon Leafing Pen in Silver.
  9. Add mini cards and envelopes inside box so your guests can cast their votes! Accesorize with Hollywood candy tin, Admit one tickets and loose rolls of film. Don't forget the movies!
Approximate project time: 1.5 hours.
