Bathroom Cabinet Hardware

New hardware on drawers and cabinets will quickly and inexpensively modernize your bathroom. Updating these is a great way to impress a prospective buyer.

What you need:

  • 1-2 Cans Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Primer in a color close to paint color
  • 1-2 Cans Krylon Brushed Metallic in desired finish
  • Medium grit sandpaper
  • Drop cloth or newspaper
  • Screwdriver
  • Lint free rag

How and How Long:

  1. Use screwdriver to remove hardware from cabinet doors and drawers.
  2. Cover your work surface with a drop cloth or newspaper to protect the area from overspray.
  3. If the knobs and drawer pulls are smooth or glossy, lightly sand them to improve adhesion of the primer and topcoat.
  4. Make sure hardware pieces are clean by removing sanding residue as well as any grease, dirt or oils.
  5. Following the instructions on the can, apply the primer using several light coats versus one heavy coat. If paint is applied too heavily, it may run or drip; if this happens, sand smooth and reapply primer. Let dry.
  6. Following the instructions on the can, apply several light coats of Brushed Metallic. Let dry.
  7. Re-install knobs and pulls.

Approximate project time: 1 hour.

What it Costs:

Approximate cost is $10 (depending on the number of pieces you need to paint).
