Ceiling Tiles

Water-damaged or stained ceiling tiles can deter to a potential home buyer. While the depth of the project varies with the number of tiles being painted, it is a great way to spruce up a room.

What you need:

  • 1 can Krylon Stain Fix
  • 1 can Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint in desired color
  • Drop cloth or newspaper
  • Medium grit sandpaper
*Note: The number of cans required depends on the number of tiles to be painted. 1 can typically covers 4-6 tiles.

How and How Long:

  1. Cover your work surface with old newspaper or a drop cloth to protect it from overspray.
  2. Remove ceiling tiles to be painted from the ceiling.
  3. Following the instructions on the can, apply the Stain Fix first. Use short sweeping strokes to prevent overspray. Apply several light coats instead of one heavy coat until the stain is covered. If paint is applied too heavily, it might puddle or run; if this happens, sand smooth and reapply Stain Fix. Let dry.
  4. Following the instructions on the can, apply several light coats of Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint. Let dry completely.
  5. Re-install ceiling tiles.

Approximate project time: 1 hour.

What it Costs:

Approximate cost is $10.
