Front Door Hardware

What you need:

  • 1 can Krylon Outdoor Spaces Metallic Finish in desired color
  • Screwdriver
  • Drop cloth or newspaper
  • Steel wool (optional)
  • Degreaser or denatured alcohol
  • Medium grit sandpaper
  • Lint-free cloth

How and How Long:

  1. Using a screwdriver, remove door hardware from door and place on a work surface covered with newspaper or a drop cloth.
  2. Remove loose rust or paint with a steel wool or sandpaper. Thoroughly clean hardware with a degreaser or denatured alcohol. Wipe clean and let dry completely. Sand any glossy or rough surfaces and remove sanding residue with a tack cloth or lint free rag.
  3. Following the directions on the can, apply several light coats of Krylon Outdoor Spaces Metallic Finish.
  4. Let door hardware dry for at least an hour before re-installing.
