Mailbox Refresh

Make sure your mailbox stands out with a brilliant red hue (or any other color you desire)!

What you need:

  • Standard mailbox
  • Krylon Dual Paint & Primer Gloss Banner Red (or any color of your choosing)
  • Sandpaper if mailbox is worn or rusty
  • Screwdriver
  • Newspaper or drop cloth

How and How Long:

  1. Cover your work area and the floor with newspaper or a drop cloth. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area.
  2. Remove the flag from the mailbox.
  3. If you are painting an old mailbox that is rusty or worn, sand the areas until smooth. The surface should be clean, dry and dull.
  4. Prop the mailbox open side down (with door hanging open) on an object such as a 2x4, foam cube or tall container so that all exterior surfaces are free of obstructions.
  5. Apply multiple thin coats of Dual Gloss Banner Red until you have achieved the coverage you desire.
  6. Allow to dry.
  7.  Reattach the flag.

Tip: If you are painting a plastic mailbox, use Krylon Fusion for Plastic instead of Dual Paint & Primer!

Approximate project time: 15-20 minutes.

What it Costs:

Cost $5-7.
